What is Social Bookmarking ?

Social bookmarking is not really a new idea but more a development of a really old idea, that has been successfully transferred to the web.

Business Networking has been going on since the dawn of time! Quite simply it means a group of individuals getting together to help each other. Business Networking as known today is all about passing on information and introducing trusted contacts to each other within your networking community and in return they help you by referring their trusted colleagues onto you.

Social Bookmarking

We think that Social Bookmarking is going to become an integral part of how all search engine algorithms work in the future, of course it is tapping into the privacy of surfers but we feel that if handled correctly it will improve the search results and benefit all.

Social Bookmarking takes this time proven trend and applies it to the internet. Google, MSN, Yahoo etc, have developed incredibly sophisticated search engine algorithms but it seems the next phase of how we search online is going to be powered by us, the users!

How can "Social Bookmarking" Improve MY Search Engine Results?

Social bookmarking follows on from traditional networking values but on a larger scale. If 10,000 people like and bookmark a site or article based on a particular subject, or add it to their favourite bookmarking program then that site must be more popular than a similar site that gets only 10 bookmarks, right?.

As the BNI slogan goes - Givers Gain! This reinforces that the more we can help our colleagues and partners through our own experience and build up trust then they too can do the same for us in return and we can benefit from their experience and advice on who to trust.

The online transference of this is that the more people who search a keyphrase or keywords and finds useful / helpful information then the more they will be more inclined to bookmark that resource, and therefore increase the importance of that source of information.

You will probably notice we have a "bookmark" tag at the bottom
of every page we publish and the reason for this echo's the
comments above. If you find our information helpful or interesting
then please bookmark us so other users looking for advice or
interested in the same topics can find us and benefit
from the information we provide as well.
